Isaiah 27:1 - 27:13
The
Apocalypse per Isaiah continues into this 27th Chapter, and will speak of God gathering
His Israel to include all believers on His Son Jesus Christ that have 'waited' on Him.
These Isaiah 24 through 27 events have a direct parallel to the last Babylon kingdom soon
to come upon the world in our generation, as written of in Revelation 9 through 18. We'll
discover many verses here that definitely point to prophecy not fulfilled during Isaiah's
time, but as to the latter day time. Another symbolic name for the 'dragon', i.e. Lucifer,
will be given in this Chapter, declaring his final defeat.
We'll also learn that God corrects those of His children
who love Him, but will cast the rebellious "branches" off, punishing the wicked
who would come up against Him and His children.
We ask a Word of Wisdom from our Heavenly Father in Christ
Jesus Yashu'a's Precious Name, Amen.
Isa
27:1 In that day the LORD with His sore and great and strong sword
shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and He
shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
This "great and strong sword" coming against Lucifer's false kingdom
upon the earth in our near future, is mentioned in Revelation 19:
Rev
19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that
wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the
beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire
burning with brimstone.
21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of Him That sat
upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of His mouth:
and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
The
"another beast" of Revelation 13:11, and the "false
prophet" are both roles for Lucifer as false messiah (antichrist) during the
latter days. The One doing the slaying of the dragon that attempts to setup a false
kingdom on the earth, is our Lord Jesus Christ. That "sword" is
Christ's two-edged sword which cuts both ways (Rev.1:16; Heb.4:12;Ps.149:6). It is
symbolic of The Word of God by His Spirit.
This "leviathan" represents the
crocodile of the Nile, and is symbolic of Lucifer also, even as he is called above, "the
piercing serpent,...that crooked serpent;". The word "dragon"
is yet another one of Lucifer's titles. So this first verse of Isaiah 27 is about Satan's
final destruction (see Rev.12:9 and 20:2 for Satan being called "that old
serpent" and "the great dragon"). This verse also shows that
our Heavenly Father is in total control, and that Satan's destruction will not occur until
he has fulfilled the negative side of God's Plan. Does that mean a test for those upon the
earth? Well, yes. But those who stay on The Father through His Son Jesus Christ will be
prepared for it, and will not be tempted by antichrist as false messiah. Not being tempted
by that "man of sin" (Satan) who sets himself up in the Temple means to
be kept from the hour of temptation (2 Thessalonians 2; Rev.3:10). How's that? Those who
have done their homework in God's Word by His Guidance know to expect the imposter
(antichrist) first (1 John 2:18).
Notice also where the "dragon" will be
per this Isaiah 27:1 verse. The phrase, "the dragon that is in the sea"
refers to Satan being cast out of heaven with his angels for the latter days (Rev.12:7-9).
In Revelation 13:1 we are given the metaphor of the first beast rising up out of the
"sea". Per Revelation 17:15, this "sea" is symbolic
of peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues upon the earth. Then at Revelation 13:11,
Satan himself is described doing works here on earth, in person, as the "another
beast", i.e. the second beast of that Chapter. That's his role of false messiah
king over all nations and peoples upon the earth, in our near future (Rev.17; 2 Thess.2).
So there's no mistaking that this Isaiah 27 Chapter is
really talking about the latter day events also given in our Lord's Book of Revelation.
This is more proof that the Book of Revelation most certainly is part of God's Word, even
though Its style appears to be written differently than most of the other New Testament
Books. Do you realize what else this matter tells us? It reveals the importance of studying the
Books of God's Old Testament prophets in order to open up His Book of Revelation in
understanding.
Isa
27:2 In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard of
red wine.
3 I the LORD do keep it; I will water it every moment:
lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.
Do
you recall that God setup His People of all twelve tribes as His Son's symbolic
'vineyard'? God planted it, and hedged out the weeds around it, cleared the stones away,
and watered it. Yet His vineyard brought forth "wild grapes" instead of
pure and goodly grapes of the best 'red wine' (see Isa.5; Jeremiah 2). When it was time,
God brought His Son Jesus Christ to be the fulfillment of that symbolic 'Red Wine' through
His Blood of The New Covenant, so that Israel could return in bearing much fruit in Him to
include believers from all peoples and nations.
Our Lord's parable of the householder, vineyard, and
husbandmen declares that God moved the care and responsibility over His vineyard (His
People) to another "nation". Do you recall God's Message about that
"nation" from the last Isaiah Chapter? I gave reference to Matthew
21:33-43 about The LORD taking His true Israel away from the "house of
Judah" in Jerusalem, because they allowed the "crept in unawares"
to kill His prophets, and then eventually crucify His Son upon the cross (John 8:13-59;
all of Matt.23, especially 23:29-35). And because of those false ones who had been allowed
to creep into true Judah's stay, most of the "house of Judah" in
Jerusalem of that time rejected The Cornerstone Which has become The Head of the corner,
i.e. Jesus Christ. God's Plan of Salvation was always meant not only for the believing
children of Israel, but to Gentile believers also, thus His Israel was moved and put under
the care of "other husbandmen", bringing forth "the fruits in
their seasons" (Matt.21:41; Romans 8 through 11). This is how our LORD means "I
the LORD do keep it...". The "it" means His "vineyard",
which is symbolic of His People; not the land, but His People. Which People?
For those who might be having a difficult time grasping
the above, allow me to put this another way. God setup Judah as His Law-giver (Psalms
60:7; Genesis 49:10). That meant keeping the proper knowledge and fulfilling of God's Laws
to His People among all the tribes of Israel. The sons of Aaron were to be His priests and
teachers to His People, and the sons of Levi were to be helpers to the sons of Aaron
(Num.2). But the Levites but would be divided in Jacob, and scattered among Israel
(Num.8:6-11; Gen.49:5-7; Exod.24:12). Moses being of Levi, would be chosen by God to give
the children of Israel His Law (Exod.2). That meant the teaching of God's Word and Law to
the people. But later, others would creep into the priesthood, as per our Lord Jesus in
Matthew 23:1-2 with "the scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:".
Not all of these particular scribes and Pharisees our Lord Jesus was referring to were
true sons of Aaron, or true Levites. These particular "scribes" of
God's Law He was giving 'warning' about were of the following group:
1 Chr
2:55 And the families of the scribes which
dwelt at Jabez; the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and
Suchathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the
house of Rechab.
So
who are the "Kenites" per God's Word? If you'll look in your Strong's
Concordance, you'll discover those are the 'sons of Cain', and Cain was the first murderer
(Gen.4). Those are the ones who instigated and caused Christ's crucifixion upon the cross,
even while the majority of the true "house of Judah" at Jerusalem, was
deceived. So as I've stated elsewhere in my Bible studies, be careful who you put the
blame on for our Lord Christ's crucifixion. Our Lord Christ was very accurate in His
rebuke to those of Matthew 23 and John 8. He well knew that the Kenites had crept into
Moses' seat, which is the seat of God's Law. Many of true Judah fell into ignorance over
those events, and many of them... still are. (See John 12:36-42; also see Romans 11 for
why this had to happen, as it was part of God's Plan of Salvation. So for those of Judah
that might reading this, I especially ask you to consider the verses of Romans 11:14-15
and Romans 11:23-25).
This is also 'why' God moved His Israel under
responsibility of "other husbandmen", to another "nation",
of... the "house of Israel" (ten tribes) in the West. That's the
Western Christian Nations linked with all believers on Christ Jesus as The Saviour,
everywhere, Israelites and Gentiles alike. Obviously with today's world events, that
creeping in of the sons of Cain among both Judah, and the "house of Israel",
has not stopped. The "tares" (false ones) will not be separated from
the true "wheat" (God's children of all peoples who believe), until the
time of harvest, which is at Christ's coming. (See Matt.13:24-30 for the parable of the
tares; Matt.13:36-43 for Christ's explanation of that parable). That creeping into God's
House has been going on for so many generations, that it is impossible for man to
distinguish the true wheat from the tares. Only our LORD can be truly accurate in that.
The Measure, for both 'houses' of Israel today, is who among them follow GOD's Word
producing good fruit, vs. those who do not. By their 'fruits' (works) we shall know them
(Matthew 7:15 forward).
But as our LORD said here in Isaiah 27:3, "I
the LORD do keep it: I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night
and day." How wondrous and beautiful The Works of GOD are! Therefore,
our concern should be in doing our best to stay on Christ in His Word, and in doing
His Commandments to produce good fruit for Him. Leave the worrying to The Father,
for He is able to cover and water His "vineyard", His People.
Isa
27:4 Fury is not in Me: who would set the briers and
thorns against Me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together.
This verse follows the subject we've just covered about GOD keeping and watering His "vineyard"
(His People). His "Fury" is not upon His "vineyard"
who stay on Him. He's not angry with those who have believed upon His Son and stay on Him.
His fury is upon those who would try to destroy Him and His vineyard. Even the sons of
Cain look after their own. Should our Heavenly Father be any different in protecting His
Own "vineyard"?
Recall in the last words of David, that the sons of Belial
(the wicked) are the symbolic "thorns" in God's Word (2 Samuel 23:5-7).
The king 'brier' of course, is Satan himself (see the parable of the 'bramble' in
Judges 9). This should reveal to you who the symbolic 'thorns' represent in our Lord's
parable of the 'sower', and about the difference in deciphering their 'fruits' (Matt.13;
Matt.7). When our Lord Jesus was delivered up to be crucified, what was the crown made
from which the false ones put on His head? (ans: Matt.27:29). Now read the above Isaiah
27:4 verse again..., "Who would try to set the evil one and his children against
Me?", God is saying. Those of Satan's followers of the sons of Cain, and any others
born flesh following Satan that refuse to repent and turn back to God through The Son, are
destined to be burned in the fire; i.e. the "lake of fire"
(Rev.20:14-15).
Isa
27:5 Or let him take hold of My strength, that he may
make peace with Me; and he shall make peace with Me.
This word "strength" is Hebrew 'ma'owz', and means 'a
fortified place' (Strong's 4581). Those who trust in God put themselves in His 'fortified
place'. Our Heavenly Father is The One Who does the fortifying of defenses for us. We
can't do it of ourselves, nor even have the power to do such. He wants us to take refuge
in Him, and make peace with Him; not with the world, nor with the things of this world.
What things of the world ever gave any true peace?
Isa
27:6 He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel
shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.
Jacob is put for all the twelve tribes of Israel. This verse applies to God scattering the
majority of the twelve tribes of Israel through the countries, with Christ being preached
to the Gentiles, and much 'fruit' being produced. It especially applies to God joining the
believers on Christ of all twelve tribes back together along with the believers among the
Gentiles. That will happen when Christ returns (see Ezekiel 37; Zechariah 10:6-8; 2:10-12;
Hosea 2:18-23). As per Galatians 3:29, "And if ye be Christ's, then are
ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." That
"promise" of Salvation through Christ Jesus Messiah, first given through
Abraham, was by 'faith', and not by the bondage of the flesh (see the study on The Old and New Covenants).
Isa
27:7 Hath He smitten him, as He smote those that smote him? or is
he slain according to the slaughter of them that are slain by him?
Even though God's People of Israel have also done things to deserve chastisement by our
Heavenly Father's Hand, and have been punished for falling away, has God ever smitten His "vineyard"
in punishment like He has the enemy? What about today? Still, among which peoples on the
earth do the majority of God's Blessings rest upon? That's easy. The answer is His that
have believed on His Son Jesus Christ as The Saviour. Even the believers of the "house
of Judah" in Jerusalem are still under His "strength". Is all
that by chance, or luck, as some would say? Which peoples live in the best crop producing
lands on earth, with the majority of resources, who accept His Saviour? What happens when
peoples of foreign destitute lands begin believing on His Saviour, including the majority
of their leaders? Has chaos ever been the result of that Faith on Christ Jesus? Absolutely
not! The result of God's Blessings is obvious to a true student of history. Chaos among
nations has ever been by the enemies of Christ, often through a people's deceived
leadership that would disregard God's Word, and thus His Blessings. (Recall Solomon being
blessed by God, and then falling from God's Grace; 1 Kings 4 forward, and many of the
kings of Judah, and kings of the 'house of Israel'; 1 and 2 Kings).
Isa
27:8 In measure, when it shooteth forth, Thou wilt debate with it:
He stayeth His rough wind in the day of the east wind.
This verse is still of how God's Hand in chastisement is light upon His own People,
compared with what He does to His enemies, and the enemies of His children. But when we,
His children need discipline by His Hand, when we see it coming, we may not like it at all
("thou wilt debate with it"), but it's very light ("stayeth
his rough wind") upon His own, compared with what His enemies are going to get ("the
east wind"). The east wind is symbolic of a very dry and hot wind (Gen.41:27;
Exod.10:13; 14:21; see the lamentation for wicked rulers per Ezekiel 19). That "day
of the east wind" in this verse is also symbolic of God's consuming fire, which
will burn off the chaotic elements of Satan's controls over the earth (Heb.12).
Those in Christ have no need to fear that future event of
God's "east wind" (consuming fire). Even as Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednigo were protected in the hot fiery furnace of the king of Babylon, Christ was the
fourth man in that furnace with them. Their clothes didn't even smell of smoke when they
came out of it (Daniel 3:19-28).
Isa
27:9 By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and
this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when He maketh all the stones of the
altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.
God's chastisement upon His children who seek Him is still part of the subject here.
Remember, that chastisement is light, and is for correction, because... He loves us. He's
our Father and even His "just" need correction at times. If any one of us denies
that need, then that is to think of oneself as 'a Christ' to themselves! A loving parent
corrects their children because they love them. Our Heavenly Father is no different in
that with those who love Him (Job 5:17; Hebrews 12; Rev.3:19). So don't get upset when His
correction comes upon you if you belong to Him. It's not the same as upon the wicked. Thus
it is by this act of God's chastisement upon His children, whereby the iniquity of His
children are purged of wickedness.
Also, don't make the mistake of thinking that our Lord
Christ changed this chastisement upon His, when He came to die upon the cross. Even
Revelation 3:19 reveals that it hasn't changed for God's children today.
These "chalkstones" are of limestone
(Strong's 68 & 1615). These represent the false rock altars of false religion, as the
word "groves" is Hebrew 'asherah', meaning 'Asherah (or
Astarte) a Phoenician goddess; also an image of the same' (Strong's 842). Therefore,
false idol worship goes along with this chastisement Message within this verse. How might
that fit for the latter days the rebellious of His children? Let me put it this way; for
those who have believed on Christ as their Saviour, yet they don't care enough to discover
what God wants them to do for our latter day generation by study in His Word, do you think
they might need a bit of correction by our LORD? Are they strong enough in The Lord today,
so they won't build up false "chalkstone" altars in false worship as
led by the wicked? If you don't know the answer to that by now, given throughout these
Isaiah studies, then go back to Isaiah Chapter 1, and start again.
Isa 27:10
Yet the defenced city shall be desolate, and the
habitation forsaken, and left like a wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there
shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof.
Recall back to Isaiah 25 where God gave a rebuke to this "defenced city".
He's speaking of future flesh Jerusalem, with the king of Babylon of The Book of
Revelation sitting there. With a false messiah sitting in God's Temple in Jerusalem
proclaiming himself as God, and even many believers really taking his false bait, that
will certainly cause Jerusalem to be a ruin ('tohuw'), a wilderness of abomination,
forsaken and left desolate. That's exactly the condition the "abomination of
desolation" of Lucifer playing king there will create (2 Thess.2;
Matt.24:15>; Daniel 9:27; 12:11). Those who once believed, but fall to worshipping
false messiah instead 'waiting' for The True Christ will be as withered branches (see next
verse). That means dried-up dead wood that falls off a goodly tree; or even 'vine' one
could say.
The false 'pre-tribulation' "secret
rapture" doctrine is
specifically designed to make the deceived who believe on Christ Jesus, to think that
false messiah is The True Saviour Jesus Christ. "How's that?", you might wonder?
God's Word is clear that our Lord Jesus Christ will not return until the "last
trump", which is the "seventh angel" sounding of Revelation
11:15 (see 1 Corinthians 15:52). Matthew 24 and Mark 13 are also clear that 'a pseudo
Christ' (Greek singular 'pseudochristos' mistranslated to "false Christs"
in the KJV Bible), is coming to work wonders and miracles in the sight of men (see
Rev.13:11 forward). God's Word is also clear that our Lord Christ Jesus upon His return
defeats that false messiah, with the brightness of His coming, and then... all the
kingdoms of 'this' world become the kingdoms of Christ, and He will then begin His Eternal
reign upon earth, ushering in the start of the "thousand years" of
Revelation 20 (2 Thessalonians 2:8; Rev.11:15). For those who turn away from that Truth,
believing the "strong delusion", and not waiting for The True Christ,
their rebellion will cause them to be withered from God's Tree. Our Lord is not going to
be happy with those.
Isa 27:11
When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off:
the women come, and set them on fire: for it is a people of no
understanding: therefore He That made them will not have mercy on them, and He That formed
them will shew them no favour.
What is done with dead branches laying on the ground around a healthy tree? It's gathered
up and burned in the brush fire. What else is dead wood good for? They won't produce
'fruit' from The Tree, so of what use are they? Want to make it to God's Eternity? Get to
producing good fruit (works) for Him, asking Him for mercy and guidance in His Word to
know how.
Isa 27:12
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD
shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be
gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel.
This "day" is "the day of The LORD". We're in
Christ's "thousand years" reign here. Recall in Matthew 25 that His
sheep on His right-hand are going to be separated from the 'goats' (wicked) who are put on
the left-hand. When our Lord Christ gets here, this separation will begin. Those of Jacob
(all twelve tribes of Israel), who serve Him through His Son, will be gathered in. This is
speaking of harvest time folks, when the good wheat is gathered into His barn (Matt.13;
Ezekiel 37; Isaiah 56:8). This "channel of the river unto the stream of
Egypt" refers to God setting His Kingdom in order in the Holy Land, returned to
how He gave it to Israel in Genesis 15:18. Yet, the land will cover even larger parts per
Ezekiel 40-48.
Isa 27:13
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the
great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in
the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in
the holy mount at Jerusalem.
Well which "trumpet" is this which is blown at that time? It's the "last
trump" of 1 Corinthians 15:52 and Revelation 11:15 as mentioned earlier. It is
the "seventh" trumpet, which is when all this will happen, at our Lord
Christ's return to end this time of the flesh. So is the earth going to be utterly
destroyed as some would have us think? No. Is anyone going to 'fly away' up in the clouds
to live in a nothingness ether? Again no. GOD's Kingdom... is... going... to be
re-established... upon this earth!
The Assyrian is a type for the role of antichrist for the
latter days. We've already learned much in the Book of Isaiah about that role Lucifer will
play for the end times. Those who were ready to perish in the land of Assyria is a
double-metaphor. It applied historically to the king of Assyria which took the ten tribes
of the northern kingdom of Israel captive out of their lands, and it thus applies to where
they are today. Those tribes of Israel would be scattered through the nations, but
especially to the West in Asia Minor and Western Europe, establishing the Western
Christian Nations. For the latter days, the ones of this verse are those who stay on The
True Christ, waiting for His return, instead of falling away (i.e. all sincere believers
everywhere who believe on and put their trust in The Father and His Son Jesus Christ,
staying in His Word). The "outcasts in the land of Egypt" is a
double-metaphor with two timeline fulfillments also (see Jeremiah 44:27 forward).
Who will be worshipped "in the holy mount"?
The LORD (YHVH) through His Son Jesus Christ (Rev.20; 1 Cor.15:23-28). Where's that gonna'
be? At Jerusalem, as written. Not today's flesh Jerusalem, but God's Holy City Which He
brings with Him (Rev.21). So beware of anyone telling you a perfect Holy City in Jerusalem
will be setup for the flesh time. The events of Zechariah 14 must happen as written, and
that Chapter outlines our Lord Christ's return to earth, east of Jerusalem to the Mount of
Olives.
Peace to you in Christ
Jesus,
Dave Ramey.
