Genesis 4:18 - 5:14
Welcome
back to our next study in Genesis. That God's Word reveals the Truth that Cain was not a
true 'son' of 'the man Adam' placed in the Garden of God, is difficult to accept for many.
Christians today are taught to understand God's Word in the sense that if It does not
'directly' say something like "Cain is not the son of the man Adam", then it
can't be true. This is so not only with the topic of Cain, but with many other subjects
within The Word also, such as the three world, or earth ages. The Manuscripts reveal these
Truths, and that should be the Main Source for all teachers and students of God's Word.
Some might say, "Well if these Truths are there in God's Word, then why didn't God
just come out and say, 'Cain is not Adam's son'. I can't believe God would hide such a
thing". The fact is, God did not hide these Truths from those who come to Jesus
Christ through prayer and study. In other words, certain 'conditions' must be met. A
'discipline' must be gained, and that is the meaning of the word 'disciple' used
in The Word. If you held a particular Truth which 'weighed in the balances', so to speak,
and you only wanted those that were 'mature' in their hearts (the real meaning of 'be
ye therefore perfect') to receive it, meeting the conditions where they would not
'trample' upon the 'Truth', would you just throw It out on the ground for even the profane
to pick up? Don't get me wrong. Those profane who have a change of heart, coming to
Christ, with sincerity, disciplining themselves in The Word would soon grasp the 'pearls'
also.
God's Word is continually growing, in that It is able to
cover all 'past, present, and future'. For this reason, It is written in such a way as to
explain the general events of all time. This is why you'll find various 'parts' of a
Message spread out through many different Books of The Bible. This is also in order to
provide 'a second witness' to God's Truth and to let us know that each Book is the
inspired Word forming a complete 'covering'. If you don't understand a Message in one
place, It will be covered elsewhere in The Word also as 'a second witness'. Some Messages
have many more than two occurrences in our Father's Word, pointing to a special Message,
ensuring that we have been given ample space to learn. The problem with many Christians
today is, they haven't truly read or studied enough of The Word to cover a subject amply.
With today's computer technology and the ability to do your own research with some
excellent Bible software available, there's no excuse for not studying and gaining more of
The Word faster than ever before. As 'heathen' practices have grown to abundance today,
likewise God has opened up His Truth to everyone more now than ever.
In Matthew 13, and in other places within The Gospel, Jesus
spoke to the multitudes in parables, and His disciples even asked our Lord why. In Isaiah
6, our LORD was asked by Isaiah the prophet 'how long' the people's eyes would be
shut, not seeing or hearing with their 'spiritual eyes and ears'. The reply was "...Until
the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be
utterly desolate," (Isa.6:11). This is another example of our Father hiding
Truth, but only if you haven't understood the events which take place at the 'last
trump' Paul spoke of in I Cor.15, and the 'abomination of desolation' which
Daniel and our Lord and Savior spoke of also.
When will these 'cities' and 'houses' be
without 'inhabitant', and the 'land' (Mount Zion) be 'utterly desolate'
by the 'abomination of desolation' sitting where it ought not? Are the cities and
houses of today still peopled? Obviously so. Well what kind of condition would that be
then? It is when Jesus Christ returns, back to earth, with the saints, destroying Satan's
(the 'abomination of desolation') false kingdom upon this earth, and 'all',
as Paul would state, are 'changed' into the 'spiritual body' ending the
time of the flesh and those works from it, ushering in God's Millennium upon this very
earth. All the houses and cities and works by man's hands are going to be destroyed, in
one instant, just as when God did it to destroy the first earth age (see Gen.1:2; Isaiah
45:18; Jer.4; II Peter 3, all in the Manuscript languages). The only difference is, this
time it will be done with God's 'consuming fire', and not by water as in the time
of old and also with the flood of Noah's day.
Wow! That's a lot from one little ole' verse in Isaiah 6
isn't it? Notice that it took a study of The Word from other Books in order to come to the
Truth of this Message? Not to worry if you're in Christ, for God The 'Consuming Fire'
(Heb.12) will not hurt us with this burning up of the 'rudiments' of man's works, for it
will be a good old warming of peace and love for God's people. It will purge our 'silver',
but will melt Satan's 'tin' (Ps.119:119; Prv.25:4; 26:23; Isa.1:22: 25;
Ezek.22:18-19). Studying The Word in this manner dealing with the subject of Cain is no
different.
We
now continue with the 18th verse of Genesis 4, and we are going to discover Cain's
offspring, which you'll notice later with Gen.5, is separate from 'the Adam'. We ask a
word of Wisdom from our Father in Jesus' Name, Amen.
Gen
4:18 And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat
Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.
This word Enoch is 'Chanowk' in the Hebrew meaning 'initiated'
(Strong's no. 2585). We left off at the last Letter with Gen.4:17 and Cain being cast out
of the presence of God, going to the 'land of Nod', finding a wife there, and they begat
Enoch, and built the first city, naming it Enoch also. This 'Enoch' here from Cain is not
the same Enoch of Adam, given in Gen.5. This is important for us take note, because God is
checking us out to see if we're paying attention. When I was young, I used to skip these
names, mainly because I had no reference to translate their meanings, and no teacher
offered to enlighten me to their importance. A Strong's Concordance and a
Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew Lexicon is very useful here.
'Irad' is 'lyrad' in the Hebrew, and it
means 'fugitive' or 'fleet' (Strong's no. 5897). 'Mehujael'
means 'smitten of God' (Strong's no. 4232). 'Methusael' means 'man
who is of God' (Strong's no. 4967). Notice it didn't say which 'God'. It is
important to remember that in the Hebrew Old Testament, our Father's Names are always
given in reference to Him, not just 'God'. In Genesis, His Name in the Hebrew usually is 'Elohiym',
'El', etc. The King James translators put the English word 'God' in all those places;
they even added 'God' in Gen.49:24 with 'the mighty 'God'. 'Mighty' is in the
Hebrew manuscripts and that's all, so the King James translators added the word 'God' in
order to make the English carry better. These are all good reasons for each student using
a Strong's Concordance. Notice this 'Methusael' sounds a lot like the 'Methuselah'
who is from Adam's lineage in Gen.5? Kind of tricky isn't it? When our Father does
something like this in His Word, it means He is trying to bring your attention to
something deeper. Imagine, if your language of birth was Hebrew, the meanings of these
names would jump out at you. 'Lamech' is 'Lemek' from the Hebrew and
means 'powerful' (Strong's no. 3929). There's also a Lamech in Adam's lineage,
who was Noah's father, but he's not the same one given here.
Again, these children from Cain are from his wife he took in
the 'land of Nod, on the east of Eden'. His wife was already there in 'Nod',
being part of the 'sixth day' creation of the races given in Gen.1:26.
Gen
4:19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was
Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
'Adah' means 'ornament', and 'Zillah'
means 'shade' or tanned (Strong's nos.5711 & 6741).
Gen
4:20 And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in
tents, and of such as have cattle.
'Jabal' is 'Yabal' in the Hebrew meaning 'stream
of water' (Strong's no.2989). There's only one letter difference in the next verse of
'Jubal' his brother. There's a lot of 'bal' endings here. Remember 'Bel' and
'Baal'? These are derivatives letting us know who they worshipped (see my last Letter on
Genesis concerning Sargon I, also called in the Assyrian cuneiform tablets 'son of bel'.
This 'bel' was the ancient pagan god of Babylonia). This word 'cattle' here is 'miqneh'
in the Hebrew meaning 'something bought, i.e. property, but only livestock,
abstractly, acquisition' (Strong's no. 4735). If you remember that Jehovah put a
curse upon Cain, that the land would not bring abundant crop, might this word cattle here
represent a setting up of a livestock trade market? I think this might have been the first
'pork belly' tradin'...(just joking).
Gen
4:21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of
all such as handle the harp and organ.
'Jubal',
another one of the 'baal' brothers, is from the Hebrew root 'yabal' which means 'to
flow, stream, to bring (especially with pomp)' (Strong's nos. 3106 & 2986). This 'organ'
is the 'panpipe' (Strong's no. 5748).
Ever heard of Pan, the Pan-god, who played on his flute
amongst the woods, having a body half-man and half animal? How about Peter-Pan, and I
don't mean the peanut butter either. I'm not saying that if you happen to play a panpipe
in a symphony orchestra that you would be worshipping the pagan 'god Pan', or anything
like that, only that's it's truly amazing just where many of today's traditions really
sprig from.
Gen
4:22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubal-cain, an instructer of every
artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
'Tubal-cain' is two words 'Yabal Qayin' in
the Hebrew, meaning 'thou wilt be brought of Cain' (Brown-Driver-Briggs; Strong's
no. 8423). 'Naamah' means 'pleasantness or loveliness' (Strong's no.
5279). As can be seen here, this is the first mention of 'artificers' (fabricator
or mechanic) and workers in the metal trades. Supposedly Egypt was the center of
metallurgy, but God's Word here kind of predates that knowledge to the 'land of Nod,
east of Eden' doesn't It? Remember, these sons of Cain held a 'curse' for the land
and therefore had to resort to other arts and such in order to survive. This is not to say
that they didn't farm any, but the land wouldn't bear fully, so they had to re-create the
trade commerce of Tyrus to pay others for produce (Don't ask me to document that. You can
call it an opinion if you like. However, if you've really gotten into God's Word, and know
your history, you should see much Truth in it. Also, just because you might be working in
one of these trades does not mean you're a Kenite, i.e. son of Cain).
Gen
4:23 And Lamech said unto his wives, "Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye
wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a
young man to my hurt.
24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, Truly Lamech seventy and
sevenfold."
Again,
this is not the same Lamech who was the father of Noah. This Lamech here is saying that
'he can kill a young man for wounding him, and a young man just for hurting him'. Well
what kind of heart is that? It is murder, and boasting about it! And who was the first
murderer? Cain, this Lamechs' ancestor. That's the fruit how you will know them. They have
a natural inclination to murder, kind of like the old saying about the scorpion who asks
the frog for a ride across the river, promises not to sting the frog, then they both get
out in the middle, and the scorpion does his thing, and the frog asks "Why?"
Then the scorpion says, "Because 'it's my nature". These still can repent to our
Father and come to Christ, so don't think they're all doomed to hell as of yet. There's
still time left. Just like the 'bully' down the street; if he gets out of line with you,
he might need a good whipping to help bring him back, and he's to be treated as the
'prodigal son' if he repents and is trying to be a good Christian. That's how God looks
even at the Kenite who 'returns' to Him, and we should also.
That's the end of Cain's genealogy.
Gen
4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name
Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name
Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
Here starts the genealogy of 'the man Adam', the 'eth
Ha' adham' placed in the Garden of Eden to till the soil. 'Seth' means 'substitute'
in the Hebrew (Strong's no.8352), which means a replacement for Abel, whom Cain murdered.
'Enos' is 'Enowsh' in the Hebrew, meaning 'mortal
man' (Strong's nos. 583 & 582). At this time 'began men to call upon the name of
the LORD'. The word 'began' is 'chalal' in the Hebrew, and it reveals
just what this act was. It means 'figuratively, to profane' (Strong's no. 2490).
So this means that 'men began to profane the calling upon the name of the LORD'. How might
that be done? By worshipping others gods, such as Baal, replacing the worship of The One
True God Jehovah. The King James translators gave a bad translation of 'chalal'
because its' Hebrew root ('chalah'= sickly, frail) doesn't fit the context and subject of
this verse. A second witness in The Word for this 'profaning' of God's Name, is that Abel
did properly worship our Father long before this event here in Gen.4:26 began to take
place. However, that Hebrew root 'chalah' does point back to the name 'Enos'.
Genesis 5: the man Adam's Genealogy
Gen
5:1 This is THE BOOK OF THE GENERATIONS OF ADAM. In the day that God
created man, in the likeness of God made He him;
This is the start of the generations of the 'eth Ha'
adham', i.e., 'the particular man Adam', whom God placed in the Garden of
Eden to till the soil, as pointed out in Gen.2:7-8. This first 'ADAM' of Gen.5 is given as
a proper name, meaning 'the Adam', i.e., 'Mr. Adam', not mankind. This particular
'the Adam' was slated to be the bloodline which Jesus Christ would be born from.
Gen
5:2 Male and female created He them; and blessed them, and
called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
This
verse is referring back to Gen.1:26, where there is no 'article' in front of 'adam'
in the Hebrew manuscripts and means 'mankind in general' without the article. This word 'Adam'
here in the KJV is really 'adam' in the Hebrew (Strong's no.120), not a proper
name, in contrast to the previous verse with 'ADAM'. It was mistranslated by the
KJV translators. Use your Strong's to compare, and the Massorah
if available to you.
Basically the first verse is talking about 'the Adam', the 'eth'
Ha' adham'. The second verse with the phrase 'Male and female created He
them;...' is about the sixth day creation of 'general mankind', i.e., the various
races of man, 'adam' without the article and particle.
Gen
5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in
his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
This
'Adam' is the 'the particular man Adam', placed in God's Paradise of Gen.2.
Notice this verse says nothing of Cain or Abel, but goes directly to Seth? Wait a minute
here, if this is the start of 'THE BOOK OF GENERATIONS OF ADAM', which we just read,
where's Cain? We know that Abel, being murdered by his brother couldn't continue Adam's
lineage, so that explains why Abel's not there, but what about Cain? I mean, isn't Cain
supposed to be the first son of Adam and Eve? But here, God's Word is starting with this
'Seth' (a substitute for Abel). What gives? As we covered before, Cain's true father is
'that old serpent', the 'devil', Satan, 'Bel' which means 'dragon', another name for Satan
given in Rev.20:2. Our Father has put the genealogies in order as they happened also,
since Cain's was the first conception (in the Garden of Eden with 'that serpent), his
offspring are at the end of Gen.4, which we just covered.
We are beginning the 'her Seed' of the Woman at
this verse, meaning the bloodline of Christ's birth (see Gen.3:13-15). We just covered the
lineage of Cain in Gen.4 which is 'thy seed' back in Gen.3:15. If you've been a
student of God's Word for a long time, and you're just now getting a hold on this teaching
from God's Word, then it's time to 'plough', helping others. This teaching about Satan's
'seed' is not my personal opinion, I'm not playing games. This is our Father's Word, like
It or not.
Gen
5:4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years:
and he begat sons and daughters:
5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years:
and he died.
Notice any difference here about the description of these
lineage's of 'the man Adam', compared to Cain's in Gen.4? Did Cain's genealogy describe
any of his offspring's time in years, i.e., how old they lived and when they died? Nope.
The offspring lineage follows the eldest son, so these other sons and daughters of Adam
are not specifically named.
Back in Gen.2:17, God told Adam and Eve "But of the
tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou
eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Remember that to God a 'day' is as a
thousand years? (II Peter 3:8). This is also how we know 'The Lord's Day' is the
millennium, God's Millennium with His Son Jesus Christ ruling on this old earth with the
elect, not man's Y2K millennium. So this man Adam and Eve obviously didn't die in the
flesh immediately after the sin in the Garden, but notice that Adam did not live past a
thousand years, 'nine hundred and thirty years' to be exact.
Gen
5:6 And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos:
This 'Enos', meaning 'mortal man' or 'frail',
we covered at the end of Gen.4. Strange that Enos would be spoken of back at the end of
Cain's lineage. Is there an important message our Father is giving there with this Enos?
I think so. 'Enos' was linked to the 'profaning of the name of the LORD' in that same
verse remember? So 'Enos' kind of followed after the ways of Cain with false worship
didn't he?
Another very important matter is revealed with this verse 6
here about Enos. Those who aren't aware of Cain's origin, when asked why he is not listed
here at all in Adam's lineage, might respond with something like, "Well since he
(Cain) murdered his brother Abel, God left him out of Adam's lineage in Genesis 5 because
of his wicked and immoral doings." In other words, they would tie the idea of
'immoral evil' as the reason, and not blood lineage, i.e. that Cain was the son of Satan
(serpent). Did you notice that Enos was guilty of an immoral act back in Gen.4:26 with
'profaning' The Name of The LORD? That's why Enos was listed there in Gen.4 at the end of
Cain's lineage. But notice Enos is again listed here in Adam's lineage in Gen.5, even
though he undoubtedly was guilty of false worship. This points out more the exactness of
God's Word when dealing with bloodlines. Though Enos committed an evil act, he was still
of the bloodline of Adam, and that's why he is included here again. Cain was not of 'the
man Adam's' bloodline, and that's why he is not found here at all in Genesis 5, nor in the
bloodline of Christ from Mary, which goes all the way back to 'the man Adam (see Luke 3).
Gen
5:7 And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and
begat sons and daughters:
8 And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he
died.
9 And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan:
10 And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat
sons and daughters:
11 And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died.
Again we see here a distinction from Cain's genealogy back
in Gen.4, dealing with these years given of Adam's generations. Seth didn't make a
thousand years either. For any that doubt this longevity was real, the Assyrian Tablets
gives the years of Sargon I, who migrated to Babylonia circa 3800 B.C.; Sargon I (probably
Cain) lived to be over 700 years old according to those Tablets.1
'Cainan' is 'Qeynan' in the Hebrew meaning
'a possession' (Strong's no.7018 & Brown-Driver-Briggs). Nor did Enos make it a
full thousand years with Gen.5:11.
Gen
5:12 And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel:
13 And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty
years, and begat sons and daughters:
14 And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he
died.
'Mahalaleel' is in the Hebrew 'Mahalal'el',
which means 'praise of God' (Strong's no.4111). At least we have part of
Jehovah's Name here with the 'el' ending, but this 'profaning' of The LORD's Name
evidently was continuing. The influx of the fallen angels with the 'daughters of Adam' and
Cain's kingdom probably was the main source of this problem. How is it today? Is it still
going on?
I'm going to stop here for now. We'll pick up on Adam's
genealogy with the next Letter. These genealogies are very interesting, for they reveal
teachings from our Father. That's why they're given. The years given for longevity in
Adam's genealogy is important for it gave that generation from which Christ would be born
of a method for keeping record, helping to maintain the bloodline purity. That bloodline
of Christ was to stay pure until He was born of Mary.
Peace be unto you in Christ
Jesus,
Dave Ramey.
