Genesis 9:1 - 9:29

The last Chapter of Genesis 8 ended with Noah, his family, and all others aboard the Ark, leaving out of it, and going forth to 'replenish' the earth. Noah then built an altar unto God, and held an animal sacrifice to our Father, and He then gave a Promise that He would no more 'curse the ground any more for man's sake', as He had done in the past (Gen.8:21-22).
If you have understood about that time 'of old', before the flesh time of even the man Adam, God was referring to both destructions of the earth by water; i.e. the time of the first age when Lucifer rebelled, and this time of Noah.
We now continue with the time of Noah in Genesis Chapter 9, as we ask a Word of Wisdom from our Father in Christ's Precious Name, Amen.

Gen 9:1   And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

This is a Command by God to re-establish their dwelling upon His earth.

Gen 9:2   And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.

This means God gave man the ability to out think the animal kingdom, by wisdom and knowledge. That of course, means using common sense. If someone goes out and tries to walk right in the midst of a pack of wild wolves, or bears, that's not using the wisdom God provided man.

Gen 9:3   Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

If you'll remember back to Genesis 1:29-30, nothing about eating 'flesh' meat is given there for man, but the green herb instead. This phrase 'even as the green herb' recalls what God gave man to eat back in those verses of Gen.1:29-30, before this flood of Noah's time. Now flesh meat is given also, for meat. Deut.14 gives a list of the 'clean' meats which are to be received. There is also a Message in 1 Tim.4:3-5 that the eating of meats to be received is not to be forbidden by others who think all should abstain. Nothing wrong with vegetarian diet, but we are not to condemn others for not doing likewise. One thing is for sure; our flesh body will tell us if we've eaten the wrong foods.
Don't let this confuse you about the 'hunter', of Genesis 1, etc. Yes man ate flesh animal meat before this time. This also involves the letting of blood for animal sacrifice. See also Isa.11 as compared with Gen.1:29-30. Note that this is the first time written as a Command by God for to eat animal flesh.

Gen 9:4   But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

Deuteronomy 12:23 is a bit more specific about not eating the blood:

Deut 12:23   Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh.

To eat (drink) blood is to 'eat the life with the flesh' (see also Lev.17:14). This our Father said to not do. There is a stronger matter involved in this eating of blood. It is associated with idol worship, as the pagans did eat the blood in rituals (see Ezek.33:24; Lev.19:26. And if you're really brave in research, read 'The Golden Bough: the Roots of Religion and Folklore' by James G. Frazer).1 The heathen believed they could prophesy after drinking the blood of animals. It was done in the temple of Apollos in Greece, in Southern India, etc., and it no doubt came from Satan's system of Babylon.
Why do I bring this matter up?  Because many of our young children are being exposed to much Satanic influence today, and some of these rituals are trying to make a comeback. So parents, beware.

Gen 9:5   And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

6    Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made He man.

These verses are of God's Commandment against murder, and also the Commandment to execute murderers (Exod.21:12; Lev.24:17). Romans 13 is a good lesson for those in Christ, how we are to honor the civil authorities whom God has given power to. Satan's system of lies has taught the uneducated in God's Word to rebel against God's authorities and His Law. This is why even many Christians today are slack in supporting the carrying out of God's Commandment to execute convicted murderers. They have allowed the liars to shame them into a guilt trip, thinking somehow those who carry out this punishment God commanded are also responsible of murder. Carrying out what God commanded is obedience to our Father, and He is The Judge, not us. So we judge not the convicted murderer in execution; God has judged. And by not obeying our Father's Word is why all the evil among us today also.

Gen 9:7   And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein."

Again the Command of Gen.9:1, to be fruitful and replenish the earth.

Gen 9:8   And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
9    "And I, behold, I establish My covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
10    And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.

God gives more specific laws for preserving the flesh order, as you'll remember the sad state of the earth before this flood of Noah's time, and the need for order. Thus the Command for capital punishment earlier.
This 'covenant' is to the whole flesh order, which included all living creatures upon the earth.

Gen 9:11   And I will establish My covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth."

This specific covenant was that our Father promised He would never again destroy flesh off the earth by the waters of a flood, as He had done to end the first earth age at Gen.1:2, and here during Noah's day. We do know that this flesh age will be destroyed by a 'consuming fire', as written in 2 Peter 3; Zechariah 14; and Nahum 1. That event happens at Christ's second Advent as KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. This old ancient earth will merely be 'purged' by fire, in similar manner as the floods did accomplish.

Gen 9:12   And God said, "This is the token of the covenant which I make between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
13    I do set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between Me and the earth.
14    And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

Ezekiel saw this 'bow' along with God's fiery chariot, and John also saw a vision of God's Throne with this 'bow' around It (Ezek.1; Rev.4). Might these examples in Scripture reveal that the 'bow' after a rain which we see while flesh, is but a shadow of that 'bow' which surrounds God's Throne? So this 'bow' example, first given by our Father in the time of Noah, means not only a Promise of how He would keep the earth for us until His Son comes in brightness, but it also relates to God's Eternal Throne and Glory! A Promise within a Promise, one could say.

Gen 9:15   And I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16    And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth."
17    And God said unto Noah, "This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between Me and all flesh that is upon the earth."

Are you ready for that Promise within this 'token' and Promise by our Father, first given here during Noah's day? The following verses from Isaiah 54 are about God's overcomers, those who remain 'barren' and without child, remaining a 'chaste virgin', when 'a spurious messiah' comes playing the role of Christ. These are those of Rev.7 who were not deceived into worshipping the false messiah (Satan, i.e. Antichrist).

Isa 54:7   "For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

This 'small moment' is the 'short work' of Romans 9:28, the five months of Rev.9, the 'one hour' of the last workers in the laborers in the vineyard parable, the 'one hour' the ten kings rule with the beast (see Matt.20; Rev.17:12). These are all symbols for Satan's tribulation period of five months (Rev.9). This reveals also, that all will go through this tribulation period.

Isa 54:8    In a little wrath I hid My face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee," saith the LORD thy Redeemer.

This 'a little wrath' is the delivering up of God's elect to the synagogue of Satan (Matt.24; Mark 13; Rev.2:10). Again, it refers to the time of Satan's tribulation, nearly upon us today. God is not slack in remembering His Covenant to His People.

Isa 54:9    "For this is as the waters of Noah unto Me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.

Just as our Father set that 'bow' in the cloud, for us to see after a rain, likewise also, He will not forget His who love Him and do their best to follow Him, who also will not bow down to worship Antichrist, who comes first.

Isa 54:10    For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but My kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of My peace be removed," saith the LORD That hath mercy on thee.

GOD will remember His called and chosen ones whom He did predestinate and foreknew (Romans 8:28-31). This same Covenant given to Noah is also for us still today, those in Christ.
     Now back to Genesis 9:

Gen 9:18   And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.

The subject now gets back to Noah and his family, as they had gone out from the Ark, and had established a dwelling with his family with sons Japheth the eldest, Ham next, and Shem the youngest. Note the particular order Noah's sons are given in this verse. In the next Chapter of Gen.10, they are given as to their order of birth.
Especially notice the last phrase of this verse 18, "...and Ham is the father of Canaan."  What gives with this? The man Canaan wasn't born yet at this point, but our Father is making sure we know that Ham is Canaan's father. Why? There must be something important here which our Father wants us to grasp, so let's keep track. That's one hint: "Ham is the father of Canaan."
     Let's continue.

Gen 9:19   These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.

It must be kept in mind, that Noah and his family represent who? They represent the Seed of the woman, i.e. the lineage of Christ's birth into the flesh through woman's womb. So these represent the Seed of Christ's bloodline, the Seed of the 'eth'Ha'adham', or 'the particular man Adam' placed in God's Garden.

Gen 9:20   And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
21    And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

Noah, being from the family of 'the man Adam', began his natural gift of tilling the soil, one of the purposes God placed the man Adam in His Garden, to till it (Gen.2:5-8).
Even though Noah's wife is not mentioned here, it needs to be understood, for what is to follow from The Word, that she was also in the tent with him, and probably also 'uncovered' as husband and wife.

Gen 9:22   And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

Here we have again the statement "And Ham, the father of Canaan...". The man Canaan still hadn't been born yet, so again, what gives with this? That's two hints: "And Ham, the father of Canaan...".
Just exactly what does this phrase, "the nakedness of his father" really mean? Turn to Leviticus 18:8, and then Leviticus 20:11.

Lev 18:8   The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.

Lev 20:11   And the man that lieth with his father's wife hath uncovered his father's nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Very clearly then, to 'uncover his father's nakedness' is a euphemism, or figure of speech. It means to have intercourse with your father's wife, i.e. one's mother.
Many have taught that Ham actually looked upon Noah's own nakedness, and committed sin. It's sad that the KJV translators didn't carry this idiom of 'thy father's nakedness' properly from the Hebrew into English. This act which took place with Ham was incest with his mother.
Further, some would teach that the black race descended from Ham and would always be slaves or servants because of this event, and also because of the Hebrew meaning of the word 'Ham', which means 'hot' ('cham', Strong's no. 2526). All that is very far from God's Word, and has no basis in fact. It is like the tradition of men which says this ancient earth is only 6,000 years old. It doesn't take a whole lot of thinking to figure just what group pushes division among all races today. Satan is the father of that false idea of the black race being assigned by God to be servants, and the Kenite (sons of Cain) merchants of Tyrus love it, and have pushed that idea in the past. God created all peoples, all races, just as He wanted, and He even said "it was very good." (Gen.1:31).
There's no way two of one pureblood race, such as Noah and his family were here, can produce an offspring of another race, regardless of the type of sexual sin, such as incest. That's not how God has setup the flesh order during this age. If you hear your preacher teaching it is possible, and that Ham somehow became the father of the black race, even though Ham was Adamic through Noah, then don't you wonder what else your preacher has misled you in? (And many don't refer to Lev.18 & 20 due to ignorance of God's Law, falsely thinking It being done away with.)

Gen 9:23   And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.

So just who is Shem and Japheth covering up with the garment here; Noah or their mother, Noah's wife? As Lev.20:11 so stated, 'the man that lieth with his father's wife hath uncovered his father's nakedness.'  So Ham's brothers were covering their mother here.

Gen 9:24   And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.

Uh oh..., Noah all of a sudden sobers up and discovers the sin of Ham ('younger' than Shem), having uncovered his father's nakedness (incest between Ham and his mother).

Gen 9:25   And he said, "Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren."

Wait a minute... I thought Ham was in the sin? Why is Canaan mentioned here again? This is three hints towards 'Canaan'.
This is Noah here cursing Canaan, not God. Here Noah has a son Canaan by an incestuous act of Ham with his wife. How would you feel? I don't think I would be happy about it either.
Now we know why God gave us three hints about Canaan. And it's important to remember, that God does not hold an offspring accountable for their parent's actions. Each soul is responsible for their 'own' actions (Ezek.18:20; Deut.24:16). As The Law against incest in Leviticus 18 & 20 was not given yet, Ham was spared.

Gen 9:26   And he said, "Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
27    God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant."

This is still Noah, not God, giving the blessing and cursing. Noah thus set Shem and Japheth over Canaan.
It's also important to remember that the sons of Canaan are not the sons of Cain (Kenites). Cain was the result of the evil mating in the Garden with Eve. This is why also Cain is not found in the man Adam's bloodline genealogy in Gen.5, nor in Luke 3, which is that of Christ's. So was this act by Ham yet another attack by Satan's influence, against the family of Christ? Most likely, as we'll see that same type of attack later again, as Satan will continually try to separate the bloodline family of Christ, or try and taint or pollute it. Well why would Satan wish to do such a thing? Because it was an attempt to prevent Christ Jesus from being born flesh. That would hinder Christ's offering of Himself on the cross for our Salvation, and also prevent Satan's own defeat (see Hebrews 2).

Gen 9:28   And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.
29    And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.

Still no flesh man ever lived to a full 'day' according to God's time, which is equal to a thousand years (2 Peter 3:8). Yet I feel Noah served our Father very well.

The next Chapter of Genesis will begin coverage of the various peoples from all three sons of Noah, and those of Canaan.

Peace be with you in Christ,
Dave Ramey.
